Adoption and Foster Care

Currently there are over 6,000 children in Arizona's foster care system who cannot return safely to their own parents and homes.  Approximately 60% of these children will achieve permanency with relatives, foster parents or other families the children already know.  The remaining 40% will not have an identified adoptive family.  There is a particular need for parents who will welcome children with behavioral or physical handicaps, older children, children of minority heritage and sibling groups.
